About Dr. Kelton Retherford

I have been a lifelong mover and teacher of movement.

Since discovering flying trapeze when I was 8, and between martial arts, rock climbing, parkour, aerial silks and straps, and pole, I’ve done my best to stay airborne and stay active.

Having worked through multiple injuries of my own I’ve become passionate about the importance of freedom of movement. I aim to restore that freedom to my students and patients.

Physical therapy has been the natural extension of over a decade of coaching martial arts, acrobatics, and circus arts, and is an ideal expression of my passion for fostering joy and exploration of movement in those I serve.

My treatment style is heavily informed by the “broaden and build” growth-focused mentality of positive psychology, which I conducted research in for 4 years at UC Santa Barbara prior to achieving my Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland.

I believe in person-first medicine - what matters to you matters to me, and care will always be about meeting your goals.
